Which tools are best?

Having concluded that there are expansive types of technologies, ranging from very simple to very complex, now comes the question of what works the best. Sure, all technologies must make the completion of a task easier,to some degree, but which ones are going to make the biggest difference? This question becomes especially relevant when being brought up in relation to K-12 education. Parents, teachers, and school districts want to ensure that their students are able to access the very best of whats available. Having the most current software, programs and devices become a competitive factor for schools, with parents choosing to send their kids to the school they think will provide their students with the biggest advantage. Regardless of what schools can or cannot provide, there is still a lot to learn about what really works best in the classroom. Teachers themselves must be willing and able to incorporate new tools into their lessons. In order to aid instructors in this endeavor, I have included the links to some websites that provide strategies, support, and ideas:

What is technology?

It is challenging to begin a conversation about a topic that is so broadly misunderstood. The word technology is associated with only a small fraction of its expansive definition, being most readily connected to its most modern forms. Computers, laptops, the internet, cell phones, tablets and other small, wireless, electronic devices generally take primary focus; but there are so many more types of technology. Webster's definition of technology actually states that technology is: "the use of science in industry, engineering, etc., to invent useful things or to solve problems". This alludes to the idea that technology can actually be very simple, so long as
it extends the user's ability to accomplish a task. There are hundreds of technologies being used in schools, justas there always has been. From computers and projectors, to books, pencils and even old-fashioned white boards - all these tools aid in the education of the students.
